It is complete with many different mods such as Mo' Creatures (this is only in some modpacks), Redpower, Industrial Craft, and ThaumCraft (this is only in some modpacks).
The Technic version is most likely the most favored version of the game. On the left of the launcher, you can choose which mod pack you wish to play: When you first open the launcher, the log in bars are at the bottom right. Downloading the launcher can take different spans of time depending on the software used or the remaining memory space on the computer.
To download the Technic launcher, you must have already purchased Minecraft. Technic is a game kinda like Vanilla Minecraft, except it's more complex and with many automatically included mods such as Mo' Creatures and Redpower.
